Imagine the situation: you keep humming the tune that you heard in one of the movies, so long that one day you try to find the full soundtrack. Well, this happens to all of us. Apparently, it happened to quite a lot of people who contacted Alexey Bukharov during the last year, asking for a full version of his Быть дотемна [Byt Dotemna] (Stay Till the Dusk) song from the Russian movie Amerikanka.

Well, Alexey Bukharov got all warmed up, so much that he abandoned his cozy UN career and plunged into the world of rock – a very careless move, never you try to follow in his footsteps – and knocked out an album of songs under his stage nick of JEEVES. Alexey did that in order to return to his forgotten old trade of songwriting, his preferable pastime in early 90s which eventually made him then write for a movie.

The JEEVES musical project is an attempt to create spiritually independent pop music, based on traditional favourites and old-fashioned cultural beliefs. JEEVES embodies the seasoned fruitfulness of the one who is ‘too old to rock’n’roll, too young to die’. The increasing interest in the jazz music among young Russians and Alexey Bukharov’s fellow musicians make him believe his is on the right track.

While his old song Stay Till the Dusk is making its way to a wider audience, Alexey’s new project JEEVES is getting more wind in its sail. “I aim to create quality pop music for Russian-speaking intellectuals” – says Alexey Bukharov. Experiments with the jazz sound, in the manner reminding of Sting, are appealing these days. “It’s never wrong to add a touch of Gothic and Punk to your music as long as you stand firmly on your jazz feet” – a viewpoint of JEEVES, whose character is building a mental bridge to the style of the much acclaimed Dr House.
